Meet the New Korg Poetry Digital Piano

Typically, when we write an article for a new piano, it's after we've had the chance to get our hands on it and put it through a rigorous play test. However, we are so excited about the new Korg Poetry that we just had to tell you all about it right away!

This is the first time we've seen a manufacturer create a new model centered around a famous composer. To date, most of the new digital pianos released have been designed to appeal to the type of player: beginner, intermediate, or advanced.

That's not the case with Poetry. This model was created for lovers of Chopin. It features two distinct tones associated with the renowned composer. The first is the 1843 Pleyel, which originated in the 19th century in France. The piano has a rare and coveted sound and only a handful of Pleyels are still in existence. Korg painstakingly recorded and loaded high-quality sound samples of a vintage Pleyel and brought this historical piano into the digital age. The Pleyel only has 80 keys and is pitched at 430Hz rather than 440Hz, giving it a unique sound that adheres closely to what Chopin would have experienced.

The second sound, Italian Concert Grand, was derived from the piano being used in the International Chopin Competition. This one has "breathtaking, transparent and profoundly expressive sound," says Korg. They also add, "were Chopin alive today, he would surely find inspiration in expressing his soulful genius through the resonant notes of this modern masterpiece."

A total of 30 rich and full tones are included within Poetry using Korg's highly advanced Stereo PCM System. Further personalize your playing experience with five unique Touch Curve settings designed to take full advantage of the Real Weighted Hammer Action 3 (RH3) keyboard. Onboard effects – Reverb, Chorus, and Brilliance (three levels each) – further allow the player to customize the personality of the piano's sound.

While using the two-part recorder feature, you can record your performances and play them back at any speed, record either or both hands, and record your entire performance alongside a saved song. Take control of your practice with the ability to adjust the tempo of recorded songs during playback, providing a dynamic tool for improvement and musical exploration.

Layer mode easily combines any two tones by pressing corresponding buttons simultaneously. Blend piano, strings, vibes, and others instantly. Partner mode divides the keyboard into left and right sides, giving each player their own middle C – equally useful for teachers and students alike.

The piano is pre-loaded with 50 Chopin pieces that you can listen to at your leisure. It also includes a sheet music folio with 23 Chopin compositions for your enjoyment.

Connect a Bluetooth device such as a smartphone or tablet and enjoy playing along with your stored music or other audio. When you are not playing the piano, you can use the Poetry as a powerful Bluetooth speaker system. Poetry includes a line input, dual headphone outputs, and MIDI I/O. The built-in sound system includes two 25 watt speakers.

Poetry is simply beautiful! Korg's "Poetic Brown" wood-grain exterior features gold-adorned pedals and accents that contribute to its luxurious appearance. The piano offers a sleek profile and when the lid is closed, offers a flat surface.
