Suzuki SS-100 88-Note Digital Piano With Hammer Action
The Suzuki SS-100...If you've started to shop for a digital piano, then you're used to the fine print...you know, there's the keyboard that looks like a great deal, but then you find out that it doesn't have the hammer action keyboard that your daughter's piano instructor has told you is so important. Or, you've found a model that seems to do everything right, but it doesn't have built-in speakers. Finally, you see a model that appears to be priced right, but it doesn't come with a stand or bench. Sound familiar? Then you'll like Suzuki's SS-100.
The highlight of the SS-100 is its keyboard action. Unlike many of its competitors, this keyboard feels like a piano. Its "Natural Balance Advanced Hammer Action" simulates that of the real thing, and is a real advantage for those learning to play piano.
Sure, but what does the SS-100 give up in trade for that action? Actually, not much (if anything). Like many other "keyboards" in this price range, the SS-100 has a number of sounds to choose from. 128, to be exact. And with its General MIDI compatibility, the Suzuki is capable of connecting to a computer for more advanced applications, such as composing and recording. If you want to have some fun without connecting to the computer, you'll find 100 built-in accompaniment patterns along with a built-in song recorder. The SS-100 will follow the chords you play in your left hand, and it even displays the chord name in the LCD display! If you simply want to sit and listen, there are 50 built-in songs for your enjoyment.
We recommend this piano to those who are beginning to learn piano. For a relatively low investment, you'll receive a full-featured, handsome digital piano that has all of the fundamentals (hammer action keyboard, built-in speakers, and headphone jacks) plus some fun stuff (the song recorder, accompaniments)...all of which will keep you and your family coming back to play.
