Korg TRITON Extreme 61
61 Key Music Workstation/Sampler w/Valveforce, USB

At the time that I am evaluating the TRITON Extreme, there are several different "TRITON" keyboard models available. From the flaghsip "Studio" series to the popular "LE" series, there is a silver Triton at all price points, and for all applications. Turn on the TV, watch a concert, and you'll probably see a Triton (of some flavor) proudly sitting on stage. It's simply one of the most powerful and best sounding keyboard workstations available.

And now, the TRITON Extreme. It comes in 61-key, 76-key, and 88-key weighted versions, and it is in many ways the most powerful Triton you can buy! Like the Triton Studio models, the Extreme has the fantastic backlit TouchScreen that makes using the keyboard a joy. Our Triton customers have all remarked on how easy it is to sit down to their keyboard and get some music happening, crediting much of that success to the simplistic user-interface and the trademark TouchScreen. The Extreme also features tons of sounds, has a 16-track sequencer, ribbon controller, and built-in sampler. Besides the new blue finish, what is new? A number of things:

160 MegaBytes of ROM Sounds and 120 -Voice Polyphony...There are more sounds in the new Extreme than in any other Triton. In fact, besides having the base Triton Studio soundset, the Extreme includes all of the sounds from the Korg Vintage Archives, Trance Attack, and Orchestral Collection expansion ROMs, and many of the sounds from the Dance Extreme, Studio Essentials, and Piano & Classic Keyboards ROMs. These sounds are all optional on the Triton Studio! Plus, there are plenty of new sounds included in the Extreme, including new pianos and guitars. And Korg has bumped up the polyphony to a total of 120 voices, so you'll be able to layer, split and record more often without the worry of running out of notes.

A Built-In ValveForce Tube Processor...A tube in a keyboard? That's what we said until hearing it. It warms, dirties, distorts, or overdrives your tone depending upon how you adjust the 4 assignable knobs designed to control the tube. It's one more way you can creatively modify sounds.

USB Connection Ports...This is a great feature. Connect a computer, hard drive, or CD-ROM/Burner to these ports, and the Extreme can burn audio CD's, read sample CD's, and you can even drag .wav and .aiff files from your computer into the Extreme (with optional Compact Flash memory). Having the USB port onboard allows you to easily tie the Extreme in with your computer.

A host of other notable features include standard digital I/O, 6 total audio outputs, a pair of assignable pedal inputs (in addition to the dedicated damper pedal input), and much more. For live use and studio applications, the Triton Extreme is poised to do it all.
