Explore the versatile Roland FP5 Digital Piano.
There are a LOT of choices in portable digital pianos. Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Kawai, Casio...they all make 'em. And they're all good. But Roland went one step further with the versatile FP5, and added some "fun" into its ingredients.
Feels like a piano...Like most of its competition, the FP5 features a realistic, 88-note hammer action (the FP5 has Roland's Progressive Hammer Action which, like a piano, is heavier on the lower scales and lighter on the top). It also has a superb grand piano sound and several other voices, including electric pianos, strings, organs, etc. A built-in metronome, song recorder, music rest, and built-in speakers are all there as well.
Practice with the Session Partner...So where's the fun? It's in the FP's Session Partner. This is the feature that separates the FP5 from everything else. The Session Partner is like having your own band to perform with...drums, bass, and other instruments all play one of 80 different built-in rhythms (choose from Pop, Guitar Funk, Fusion, Latin, Gospel, and more!), and repeat one of 90 different chord progressions! You can even define the chord progression you want to play. It's great! Simply select a rhythm, press Play, and jam along! It's certainly more entertaining than a basic metronome (though a metronome is available, if that is all you need), and the styles and sounds are musical and expressive.
Versatility...The FP5 doesn't let up there...Roland has included a Tone Wheel Mode to simulate the sounds of a real organ. A USB Connector is standard for easy connection to your computer, built-in stereo speakers work great (though stereo outputs are included for connection to an external amp/speakers), and Roland has designed the FP5 to be equally at home in your living room and on the gig. Your choice of stand will define how portable it is, and how elegant it will look.
