Ampeg Micro-VR Head delivers 200W of pure Ampeg tone in a package that could practically fit in your pocket. This deceptively small head provides the look of the classic SVT-VR that made the original famous in the 1970s. A balanced direct out, -15dB pad, onboard limiter and dual speaker outs offer tremendous versatility whether on stage or in the studio. The 1/8" stereo input and output let you easily integrate an MP3 player for practice or recording. Pair it with the companion SVT-210AV cab (sold separately) for a fully gig-able but super micro rig. Great sound, unmatched portability – small wonder, it's an Ampeg.
- 200W MOSFET power section
- Sleek 1970s vintage styling of Ampeg SVT-VR
- Single-channel, entirely solid state design
- 1/8" external audio input works with 1/8" headphone output
- Balanced XLR direct out
- Dual speaker outs
- Effects loop with separate send and return jacks
- 3-band EQ
- Onboard switchable limiter
- Selectable -15dB pad
- Lightweight switching power supply
- Voltage selector switch
- Fan-cooled
3-band EQ
Adjusting the tonal quality of your rig has never been so easy as with the 3-band rotary EQ. These are the same EQ controls found on Micro-VR's bigger siblings.
Selectable limiter
Press this switch in to engage the limiter circuit. If the signals driving the amplifier start to peak, the limiter will automatically reduce the signals to prevent clipping and the LED will flash. The limiter will help keep the amplifier's output 'clean' up to high output levels and prevent potentially damaging distortion.
Selectable -15dB pad
Press this switch in to reduce the input signal by 15dB and compensate for higher output sources. This attenuation is suited for use with basses that have active electronics or high-output pickups. It will reduce the chance of overdriving the preamplifier stage and allow more usable range and fine adjustment of the gain control.
Audio input and headphone output
Connect the audio output from line-level sources such a mobile device or CD/MP3 player to the 1/8" stereo input. The incoming audio is mixed with the preamp signals so you can play along to a practice track as you listen with headphones. (Incoming audio only plays through the headphone output.)
Effects loop
Use the 1/4" TS output to send a line-level signal to an external effects processor. The output here is affected by all controls except the volume and limiter switch. Use the 1/4" loop return jack to feed the processed signal back into the power amplifier.
Speaker outputs
These 1/4" TS outputs supply speaker-level power to a speaker cabinet (sold separately). The rated power output is 200 watts RMS into 4 ohms. The two identical outputs are wired in parallel and you can use either one or use both.
Balanced XLR output
Connect this balanced output to the balanced input of a mixer or recording audio interface to avoid having to mic a speaker cabinet. The output is not affected by the volume control. This output can also connect to external power amplifiers or powered loudspeakers as long as they have their own input controls to adjust the volume level.
