Analogue Solutions Treadstone Eurorack Analog Synthesizer Module
Originally introduced as part of the Analogue Solutions 'synthBlocks' line of standalone desktop synth/effects modules, the Treadstone analog monophonic synthesizer is now available in eurorack format.
- Analog discrete VCO circuit
- Analog SSM-style 24dB/octave filter
- LFO, noise, sub-oscillator, envelope generator, pulse width modulation, 'lo-fi' digital echo
- MIDI loop sequencer
- High-quality 16-bit DAC for MIDI-to-CV conversion
- Good quality smooth potentiometers, fully sealed against dust
- Good quality knobs with spun aluminum caps
Treadstone is for use any time you need analog sound effects: fat basses, screaming leads, beeps, tones, zaps and all the other crazy sounds associated with analog synthesis.
Treadstone has an external audio input so you can feed external sounds through the onboard analog filters for processing.
Treadstone is able to produce electronic percussion sounds: kick, snare, hi-hats, cymbal, etc.
The VCO is, in the words of the manufacturer, 'very analogue' and uses discrete components and op-amps. Using pulse-width modulation and the sub-oscillator creates a full, warm and deep sound.
Low frequency oscillator
The LFO has triangle and square wave modulation signals.
Treadstone uses a four-pole 24dB per octave multimode filter. The filter is a re-issue of the SSM2044 IC used in classic synths such as Korg PolySix, Korg MonoPoly, E-mu Emulator, E-mu SP-1200 and many more.
Audio signals such as the VCO, noise and external audio are all routed to the VCF via an analog mixer.
The VCA can be set so it is always open. This allows Treadstone to be used as an effects processor.
The envelope generator features attack, sustain and combined decay/release. It's not really true to say it's an ASR envelope; it really is an ADSR with decay and release both controlled by the same knob, saving space with little compromise in flexibility. It's possible to drone or auto-repeat the envelope, as well.
A great deal of thought has been put into modulation routing choices, allowing a wide range of sounds to be produced including percussion and modular-style sounds.
