Summer is almost over! The season has flown by and we only have a limited amount of time left to get outside and enjoy the weather. This can create a bit of a conflict for us songwriters. For the most part, our gear doesn’t exactly play nice with nature. It stays in cases, gets polished, can’t get wet, and isn’t easily transportable. Should we just stay inside and write? Do we enjoy the weather and neglect our music? How do we get the best of both worlds?
Preparing yourself for a gig is an often neglected task by us musicians. We’re so caught up with packing, setting up, nerves, last minute practice, and misbehaving gear that before we know it, the show is ready to start and it’s time to go!
Why do we practice? Because most of us want to improve and we know that it’s only possible through regular practice. And, while we know that practice is the proven path to success, why do we get tired of doing what helps us to accomplish our musical goals and become better musicians?
