First Impressions - Roland LX708

Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to sell some of the finest acoustic pianos made. This experience helped me appreciate the quality of construction, design and features that acoustics offer.

When I first saw the Roland LX708, it was like déjà vu! Modeled after today's finest upright pianos, the LX708 makes a great first impression.

As I walked around the instrument, I noticed the beautiful finished back and one-piece side panels. This piano will look beautiful in any home, and the finished back will be a welcome addition in a church or school. It's taller than most other upright digital pianos and the cabinet design is very contemporary, with braced front legs that provide greater durability when the piano needs to be moved.

Today, I'm getting acquainted with the Polished Ebony model, which has brass accents. Charcoal Black and Polished White are also available. Each finish comes with a matching bench.

Once seated, my hands were drawn to the streamlined, slow-fall key cover that protects you from sudden closures. As I raised the lid, I was impressed with the simple, uncluttered control panel. The piano automatically turned itself on as well. The LX708 features about a dozen dedicated backlit buttons, allowing easy navigation to the sounds or features of your choice, especially in a low light environment.

The extra wide music rest provides ample room for your music books and tablet. The music rest has an adjustable angle, which stops objects from falling forward while playing. Additionally, two brass music clips holds pages in place, allowing you to keep your fingers on the keys and focus on your playing.

With the touch of a button, you have two world-class pianos. The European and American piano models, along with the additional sounds (including electric pianos, organs and orchestral instruments), invite you to explore and play. It's easy and intuitive to navigate through the sounds and features with this piano, and I didn't need to refer to the owner's manual!

The piano sports a powerful 8-speaker system and the top lid opens to further project the piano's amazing sound. You may also use headphones for private practice. Once plugged in, advanced technology enhances the sound you hear to provide a fuller, live-performance hall sound!

Bluetooth (audio in) streaming will allow you to use your tablet or phone to play along with teaching pieces from an app or just listen to your music. Roland's Piano Every Day app (iOS/Android) allows you to control the piano using your tablet's touch screen. You can access SheetMusicDirect, the world's largest online store for digital music scores. There are several fun and unique ways to interact with these songs and there are arrangements for all skill levels. The app also displays music notation for the piano's onboard songs, letting you start playing immediately.

All of these ingredients join together to give you a rewarding playing experience. Check out our "All Playing, No Talking" video below and call us today at 800-783-3368, chat, or email.
