The Yamaha Arius YDP-165 utilizes an improved CFX Stereo Sampling sound engine to reproduce the sound of Yamaha's CFX full concert grand, while VRM Lite technology replicates the sophisticated string resonance of a real acoustic piano. In addition, the 88-note weighted action (GH3) features synthetic ebony and ivory key tops for authentic piano feel, providing an expressive and immersive piano experience. Half-damper pedal control allows for continuously increasing amounts of sustain as the pedal is depressed. Other features include a 2-track song recorder and Tone Escapement port to create a wide sound space.

Yamaha's Smart Pianist app for iOS allows you to control the functions of your YDP-165 with your iOS device for intuitive and easy operation. Smart Pianist can also analyze the songs in your iPad or iPhone music library and display the chord symbols so that you can play along with your favorite tunes (requires Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and USB cable).
