Tenor style body
While tenor style bodies use the same tuning as their soprano counterparts, the tenor offers a much larger body. The larger body offers more warmth and projection due to the size of the soundboard and the increased space within. If you are accustomed to the tuning and chord formations of a soprano ukulele, but would like something that feels and sounds closer to a classical guitar, then this tenor ukulele is the one for you.
Solid koa top, back, and sides
Koa tree is most commonly grows in Hawaii, and is the wood traditionally found in truely Hawaiian built ukuleles. Koa provides a warm and powerful tone with plenty of volume and sustain. It's strength to weight ration ensures that your ukulele will withstand rigors of the road. Koa wood ages well, providing an even warmer and pleasing tone over time, making this an instrument that will keep you satisfied for years to come.
Upgraded saddle and nut
The importance of the saddle and nut on stringed instruments cannot be overstated, as these are the main points where the string vibrates on the instruments, transfering the sound into the body to be projected. While some manufacturers use plastic parts to cut down costs, Kala has used a bone bridge and GraphTech NuBone nut, ensuring that none of the crispness and nuance is lost in that sound transfer. These strong elements not only have a possitive effect on the tone, but will likely last for as long as you own this instrument.
Mother of Pearl inlays
No detail has been overlooked, as Kala completes the presentation of this instrument with Mother of Pearl headstock and fingerboard inlays. The ovular fingerboard inlays not only clearly identify your position on the neck, but add a subtle touch of elegance over the handsome Pau Ferro wood.
