Taylor American Dream AD17e Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Natural SN 1212010122
FREE GUITAR INSPECTION!Your guitar will arrive ready to play.
Taylor American Dream AD17e has solid ovangkol back and sides that bring much of the sparkle and low-end presence you would expect from rosewood, plus a leveled-up midrange for a truly balanced sound up and down the neck. With a solid spruce top, the Grand Pacific body shape produces warm, seasoned acoustic tone reminiscent of vintage acoustic recordings. V-Class bracing adds its tone-enhancing magic to the mix, producing louder notes and chords that sustain and bloom with impeccable intonation. Together, the tonewood pairing, body shape and interior bracing add up to a versatile workhorse capable of filling a room with rich cowboy chords or soft fingerpicked melodies. Aesthetically, AD17e is detailed with minimal appointments to preserve its classic character. Chamfered body edges, stained spruce edge trim, a three-ring rosette in Hawaiian koa and a faux tortoiseshell pickguard add to the refined visuals, with an Urban Sienna stain for the back and sides and a thin 2-mil matte finish optimizing the guitar's lively acoustic response. It ships with built-in ES2 electronics in a Taylor AeroCase.
Grand Pacific shape
This round-shoulder dreadnought delivers a new flavor of warm, rich Taylor tone. Thanks to the contours of the shape (especially the wider waist) and the tone-shaping power of Taylor's V-Class bracing architecture, the notes are rounder and broader, overlapping to create a more blended sound with a warm, seasoned personality. Grand Pacific guitars also produce stunning power in the bass range without the muddy, woofy characteristics that create sonic problems, making for a more musical, usable tone in virtually every application. Together with the other fundamental sonic improvements of V-Class – more volume and projection, longer sustain, cleaner intonation and more tonal consistency from top to bottom – Grand Pacific brings broader versatility to a dreadnought-style guitar, promising to satisfy players across many genres and musical styles.
Sitka spruce top wood
As a guitar soundboard, Sitka spruce is the tonewood standard of the modern era. Its combination of strength and elasticity translates into a broad dynamic range, yielding crisp articulation and allowing for everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking.
Ovangkol body wood
An African relative of rosewood, ovangkol is a great-sounding wood that shares many of rosewood's tonal properties, with a slightly fuller midrange and a top end that's not quite as bright as maple. Being lesser known than rosewood, ovangkol has been a sleeper hit over the years, asserting itself as an instant contender among unsuspecting players who test drive a variety of Taylor models.
V-Class guitar bracing controls the top's flexibility, creating a more orderly rocking motion across both sides of the top. The controlled flexing movement produces greater volume. V-Class bracing also maintains stiffness along the middle of the guitar, in the direction of the strings. That rigidity keeps the strings in motion, producing notes that resonate longer before fading out. Finally, V-Class bracing makes the top more in tune with the vibrating strings. This eliminates much of the interference that causes some notes to waver and sound slightly out of tune. As a result, notes and chords played anywhere on the neck are more consistent and in tune with each other.
Expression System 2 electronics
The heart of Expression System 2 is Taylor's patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier or direct into recording software, Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.
