Taylor American Dream Series Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Grand Pacific Body Shape, Tropical Mahogany Top, Sapele Back and Sides and Taylor Expression System 2 Electronics in Natural Finish

Taylor American Dream AD27e combines premium performance and value, making it all the more accessible to working musicians. This model features back and sides of solid sapele topped with solid mahogany, a hardwood combination that produces a meaty midrange and even balance across the tonal spectrum. Outfitted with V-Class bracing for additional volume and sustain, the Grand Pacific body shape also brings a seasoned tonal response that evokes the sounds of early acoustic recordings. Appointments for the AD27e include chamfered body edges, black top purfling, 4mm dot fretboard inlays, a faux tortoiseshell pickguard, and an Urban Sienna stain, all wrapped in a 2.0-mil matte finish. It ships with built-in ES2 electronics in a super-portable Taylor AeroCase.

Grand Pacific shape
This round-shoulder dreadnought delivers a new flavor of warm, rich Taylor tone. Thanks to the contours of the shape (especially the wider waist) and the tone-shaping power of Taylor's V-Class bracing architecture, the notes are rounder and broader, overlapping to create a more blended sound with a warm, seasoned personality. Grand Pacific guitars also produce stunning power in the bass range without the muddy, woofy characteristics that create sonic problems, making for a more musical, usable tone in virtually every application. Together with the other fundamental sonic improvements of V-Class – more volume and projection, longer sustain, cleaner intonation and more tonal consistency from top to bottom – Grand Pacific brings broader versatility to a dreadnought-style guitar, promising to satisfy players across many genres and musical styles.

Tropical mahogany top wood
A mahogany-top guitar will produce strong fundamentals, with clear and direct focus. It might be characterized as having a woody, dry tone. Harder, denser woods like mahogany and koa that are used on the back and sides of a guitar are sometimes used as tops. Their stiffness initially translates into a bright tone and tends to need more play-in time to open up, but the more a mahogany-top guitar is played, the more it develops overtones that contribute to a fuller, richer sound. A mahogany-top guitar might appeal to rootsy players who like a little extra punchiness in their tone.

Sapele body wood
Sapele's tonal output is consistent and balanced across the tonal spectrum, making it compatible with a diverse range of playing styles. It's comparable to mahogany, but its higher density tends to produce a slightly brighter sound with more top-end shimmer. Sapele is a highly sustainable, all-purpose tonewood that will deliver a consistent, balanced tone in a variety of playing applications, from fingerstyle to strumming.

V-Class bracing
V-Class guitar bracing controls the top's flexibility, creating a more orderly rocking motion across both sides of the top. The controlled flexing movement produces greater volume. V-Class bracing also maintains stiffness along the middle of the guitar, in the direction of the strings. That rigidity keeps the strings in motion, producing notes that resonate longer before fading out. Finally, V-Class bracing makes the top more in tune with the vibrating strings. This eliminates much of the interference that causes some notes to waver and sound slightly out of tune. As a result, notes and chords played anywhere on the neck are more consistent and in tune with each other.

Expression System 2 electronics
The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor's patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier or direct into recording software, Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.
