Perfect for fireside jams, basement practice sessions and practicing on the go, Baby Taylor guitars have delighted players with their comfortable size and tuneful sound for years. Taylor refreshed this versatile 3/4-size guitar with back and sides of layered Hawaiian koa and a solid koa top whose striking visual character makes this model as fun to show off as it is to play. Whether you're a beginner in need of a small starter guitar or a seasoned pro in need of a travel companion, Taylor BTe-Koa has you covered.

Designed to yield a ton of volume for its small size, Taylor's 3/4-size mini-Dreadnought helped spawn the travel guitar market with a well-crafted design that blends musicality and playability. Its small size also makes it a great starter guitar for kids and an ultra-compact songwriting guitar, and adds a unique acoustic flavor to a music mix.

There's a lot to be said for the clean, traditional look of a non-cutaway acoustic guitar. If you don't plan to play in the upper register or simply prefer the symmetrical hourglass contours of a guitar, a non-cutaway model is a great option.

Hawaiian koa top wood
A hardwood top such as koa produces a natural compression, so there tends to be more of a controlled, sustaining 'roll-in' effect to a note. An all-koa guitar will produce strong fundamental focus with a splash of top-end shimmer. As a tropical hardwood, a koa top will initially project a bright and focused tone, especially together with koa back and sides, but as it's played it matures into an increasingly warm, rich, sweet sound with healthy overtone 'bloom,' especially in the midrange.

Layered koa body wood
Layered koa features an all-wood laminated construction with an exterior layer of beautifully figured koa veneer and an interior layer of sapele, separated by a core layer of poplar. Though the tonal properties of layered wood aren't as complex as solid wood, the construction method enables Taylor to conserve tonewood resources and offer attractive, durable instruments at a more inviting price. A solid spruce top and Taylor craftsmanship ensure a clear, balanced tonal response.

ES-B electronics
The ES-B pickup incorporates Taylor's Expression System 2 piezo design elements and features an onboard preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication along with tone and volume controls. The preamp/tuner is powered by two button cell 3v lithium batteries. Two new batteries will provide approximately 300 hours of use.

X bracing
The 'X' pattern provides a continuous flow of strength from the upper bout to the lower bout, which provides rigidity despite the soundhole's location in the middle of the soundboard. Taylor's refined interpretations of this traditional bracing style have been adapted to produce pleasing volume, sustain and responsiveness, with signature clarity and balance across the tonal spectrum that has long been associated with Taylor guitars.
